Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries
As a non-profit organization, we aim to support mental health and wellbeing. Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries prides itself on equipping churches and their ministers with adequate resources to promote the mental wellbeing of the communities they serve. You can learn more about us on our website.

Our Mission and Goal
Our mission is to equip the church with adequate resources to support mental health and wellbeing. The resources that we provide engage the topics of faith and mental health. We use the help of certified and trained theologians, psychologists, and people who have survived mental health challenges to develop engaging and meaningful content. Our pride is to create resources that will prepare communities of faith to raise awareness, support mental health, reduce stigma, and promote mental wellbeing.
The vision statement
To create a future where the church will play a vital role in supporting mental health and wellbeing in every community.
What we stand for
Mental health is an essential part of the redemptive work Christ started. Jesus Christ came to bring us into a relationship with God. As his disciples, we should love one another in all situations, especially in mental health challenges. To do that, hope, compassion, and education are required. As we support mental health and wellbeing, we stand for the following values.
We practice compassion
At Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries, we take our time to understand, care, and honour others in everything we do.
We Encourage
Sharing the hope of the gospel to everyone that we meet is our commitment. We believe that hope and mental wellbeing are connected.
We Seek to Build Relationships
We believe that healthy communities play a role in supporting and promoting mental health and wellbeing. That is why we seek to encourage and strengthen communities by sharing testimonies and knowledge.
We Value Integrity
Everyone at Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries seeks to be authentic and honest in everything we do from our words, actions, and working relationships.
Our Projects
We are engaged in various projects to equip the church better to raise awareness and enhance mental health and wellbeing. Here are some of our ongoing projects:
The Sanctuary Course
This course is designed to raise mental health and wellbeing awareness by starting conversations in local churches. Anyone can participate in this course regardless of previous training and expertise.
Who should take part in the course?
This course is ideal for the following groups:
Anyone with questions about mental health.
Mental health professionals who can provide a wealth of mental health information.
Leaders who want to raise mental health awareness.

How does this course work?
This eight-week program requires the participants to meet every week to read and listen to audiobooks together. The participants should also watch a film, engage in conversation, reflect together, and pray. Every group should have a group leader. You only need a free subscription to access this course. The Sanctuary course is also available online as a response to COVID-19. Participants will cover the following topics over eight weeks.
Learning more about mental health and illness
Discussing more stigma
Exploring the topic of self-care
Looking at companionship
Understanding the recovery journey
Analyzing the role of community in mental health recovery
How much does the course cost?
The course is free. However, churches and participants will only access this course after subscribing. We will send an email with instructions when you subscribe to this resource for the first time.
Faith, Grief, and COVID-19: A Conversation
We have created this resource to address the questions that many of us have during this pandemic. This resource looks into how we should understand the process of grief as people of faith. It also answers how we can support the vulnerable and grieving members of our community while keeping safe. You will also learn where you can find joy during these trying times. Our partner has also extended this conversation on their page.
The resource features four short films with insights from a panel of experts. Below are some of the topics addressed in the resource:
Understanding grief during these trying times
Grief and lamentation in the scripture
How culture and faith shape our grief experiences
The need for empathy and hospitality during the grieving period.
How to support those who are grieving.
How You Can Help
